“By checking this box, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to be bound by, the following provisions

By providing this telephone number (whether wired or wireless) as part of our established business relationship, and regardless of whether this number is listed on the federal Do-Not-Call-Registry, you consent to being contacted by Clearwire (and/or its designated agents) at this number, for any purpose (including sales, marketing, and promotional offers) and by any means, including autodialed or prerecorded voice calls and text messages. You specifically acknowledge that you may incur, and will be sole responsibility for, charges relating to these incoming calls or messages.”

I read this as “When I check this box, I give them permission to start charging me for as many ads and autodialers as they want.” All of a sudden, this just doesn;t sound like a good deal.

I replied to a “get-more-info” card they sent in the mail. They then commenced sending me the
same piece of mail every two weeks for well over a year.

I called first and said nicely: “no, nope, just forget it and please don’t send mail or call me”.

You know where I’m headed: they continued to harass me by sending me the same,
big, stupid piece of green mail every two weeks with no end in sight.

Finally I called again and said “I want OFF of all your databases, your address list,
your email list, and your phone list — ALL of it. If I haven’t responded for a year,
you can jolly well leave me in peace and quit already!”.

And she goes “OK, I just need to get your social security number (which of course I had
never given them before) in order for me to do that.”

Huh?? WTF? #%*%()^)$#!

How stupid and illegal is that??

“In order to remove you from our databases we have to add more sensitive information about
you to our databases”. NOT SO FAST.

What a narrow miss. I’m so lucky. I could have been sucked into their nightmare
had I not sampled their customer service up front first.

I’m normally considered a gentle and mild-mannered person, so for me to get so
angry…. well I was VERY direct with her, pointing out the irony of her requesting
additional personal information, and she finally said yes she’d remove me, and she then hung up on me.

When I see them hawking their so-called services on the sidewalks around Seattle,
I cross the street and say a prayer of pity for the minimum-wage, starving students there trying
to sell Clearwire “service”, probably never having tried it themselves.

Clearwire Corporation has continued to give me the run around since January 2010. The representative from this company pulled my credit knowing the person who was trying to obtain credit wasn’t me. After further investigation and speaking with the activation department, I was told this is a common practice among their team. This incident has lowered not only lowered my credit score, but has caused me to loose my earnest money I put down for my home. I am out $10,000 because I defaulted on my contract to purchase! I am a military veteran, and I cannot use my VA loan because of Clearwire. I have worked hard to get my family in the position to be able to purchase a home, but now we are unable too. Clearwire representatives continue to transfer from person to person and ignore my letters. I feel this incident was malicious and intentional, especially since the representative knew the person on the phone was not me. I was told by one representative that the person tried to establish an account twice, before they gave them my name and date of birth. The representative and the person obtaining service knew exactly what they were doing. Their activation department says they receive complaints of this nature all the time, and they would rectify it immediately. This was three months ago. This company doesn’t have good business practices and I hope someone will put a stop to them soon.

Hello ClearwireSucks.com,

Early this morning (Thursday May 28th, 2009) I logged online and when I opened my web browser, any browser (i.e: Safari, Firefox, IE), my home page would immediately forward to Clearwire and it was one of their bullshit traps from what I could tell since our contract (Thank God!) is up in the next month or so trying to get us to re-up service or pick another lousy “gift” from them. NO THANKS! Every time I would try and hit the “home” button on the browser it would just immediately forward right back to the (attached screenshots) Clearwire page. Even if I hand typed a new URL, any URL, it would forward back to the Clearwire page! When I checked my preferences in my browsers they were still set to the original homepages, but it would keep forwarding to https://home.clearwire.com no matter what I did! I was their hostage until I made a (what appears to be the correct) move to end this piracy on the open internet.

The only option it gave you was to press the “No thanks, remind me later” button (though we don’t want to be reminded later, we just want them to stop this kind of crooked behavior). That took care of the highjacking matter, and I made sure not to choose any of the two proposed offers on the page either before I did it. The phone number provided, (866) 785-9428, to call is only available during regular business hours per their recorded message.

We’ve had horrible reception issues the entire time, and we live in Seattle, and their email interface and set-up, if you are using anything besides a Clearwire email address, is a complete nightmare and gives Google
carte-blanche over your info. Clearly, Clearwire belongs in the dump rotting along side all of the other garbage!

As you can see, I logged into Clearwire’s live chat and tore them a new a-hole, but they wouldn’t respond back to me, though they always have before, which was never any help anyhow.

Clearwire is an absolute joke. Stay away from it. Far, far away…
Regards,
Kyle

EDIT: Help spread to word – DIGG the story!

Hi everyone,

The title of this post seems a little drastic, I know. But, bear with me and I’ll explain to you how I know this.

I started this website in January of 2006 because I needed my voice to be heard. I didn’t expect it to be as popular as it has become. I’m glad that I’ve been able to provide a place for victims of Clearwire’s service to come together.

This has come at a price.

I have become a target for Clearwire. I know that this site might be offensive to Clearwire employees, or fans of the service. But, that doesn’t warrant what has become of it.

I typically stay away from sites that I know will offend me. So, why would Clearwire employees come here in the first place? To defend their company’s honor? Take a look at the forums, and see the Clearwire employees at their best. It’s disgusting.

Clearwire employees have anonymously posted personal information from my Clearwire account, onto the user forums. It started with a fellow who posted what street I lived on, and posted information about my billing history. It was difficult (rather, IMPOSSIBLE) to figure out who this person was, as they didn’t have an e-mail address on their user profile. Since then, I required a valid e-mail address to be used when registering for the forums, as well as only registered users being able to post. I tried contacting someone in Clearwire to hopefully have my account information removed, but my calls were never returned.

Earlier this month, another fellow posted information about me. He posted my parents phone number (which was the number associated with my Clearwire account)[citation (edited for obvious reasons)]. He claimed to have gotten the number from one of my “Myspace friends”. Being that he had my parents number, and thought it was mine, it was easy to see his lie. Later on, I found out that my parents received 2 calls from Clearwire in Jacksonville FL asking for me. I assumed it was another anonymous Clearwire employee, trying to look like a “bad-ass” by reciting information from my account. Problem for him, he wasn’t fully anonymous.

After a few google searches, I quickly figured out who this fellow was. I found out he is a devoted sales associate working in Jacksonville FL (Soon to be Seattle WA – probably their corporate office). I e-mailed the Clearwire PR department, and the Board of Directors telling them what happened, and how this needs to stop. Less then 12 hours later, I was on the phone with their corporate lawyer.

At this point, I thought I had finally gotten some much needed assistance with this ongoing issue. Boy was I wrong.

I spoke to the lawyer and sent him links of the Clearwire employees breaching the privacy agreement I had with Clearwire. The lawyer did a good job of acting concerned for my privacy issues. After I gave him all the information, he asked me for a favor. Happy that I got a hold of someone to handle my privacy situation, I agreed. He then asked for user information for forum poster “thecleartruth”. I was caught a little off guard. I knew of what “thecleartruth” had been posting, and I knew that it was something that was going to hurt the company. I was hesitant, but ended up giving them his IP address that had been logged on the server.

Big mistake.

I have come to the conclusion that the only reason I was contacted was to so that they could get more information on “thecleartruth”.

I e-mailed the lawyer asking for follow-up results on what happened to the Clearwire employee, but he said he would be unable to share that information with me. You would think that a company like this would have strict rules on sharing private information. Well, they do. They’ll hunt down and sue someone who shares inside information, even when they don’t know the person they’re after, or their name. But, when an employee who was positively identified posts sensitive account information on a former customer, they let it slide.

Maybe it’s because of who I am. But, who I am and what I say here doesn’t change the law. Clearwire has allowed their employees to break the law at my expense. I expected the employee to be fired! But, this person still has his job with the company, and is working his way up the corporate ladder. The company is aware of this. I was told by the lawyer that they’re “well aware” of this site. Even after bringing to their attention the misuse of my customer information, I’m only left to assume that everything has been worked out.

I feel like a chump for ever signing up for this service, and even more of a chump for believing they would handle people who breach the privacy agreement I had with Clearwire. It was all a ruse, to get information on “thecleartruth”.

You want to see the company your dealing with? Look throughout the forums on this site, do searches on the internet. There were a few Clearwire employees on the forums who were nice and tried to be helpful (like “Ray Hatch”), but there were many more who were insulting and rude. That’s what you can expect if you get involved with this company and their service.

The main issue is that they do not uphold their own privacy policy.

The following is from their privacy policy available at http://www.clearwire.com/company/legal/privacy.htm:

“Clearwire is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer systems with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities.”[...]“We have implemented strict internal guidelines to ensure that your privacy is safeguarded at every level of our organization.”

But, not only are they not upholding their policy, they’re breaking the law.

Personal information is valuable in our world today. With identity theft on the rise, it’s important to make the right decisions about who you trust your personal information with.

The bottom line, this company can NOT be trusted.
