June 1st, 2012 | by Admin |I too was lured into the Clearwire net (pun intended) with promises of unlimited data and no bandwidth throttling. The honeymoon lasted about 4 months. I was getting up to 8 Mbit down in my remote little corner of Texas which is serviced by neither cable nor DSL. One night, out of the blue, I was suddenly getting dial up speeds. Five calls to Clear technical services yielded responses from “throttling, what’s throttling ?” to “yes, we’re throttling you, but don’t tell anybody I told you”. At first there was some predictability to the throttling. It seemed to coincide with peak evening times. Lately it seems to be throttling 24/7. Now I’m back scouring the Internet (really slowly) looking for my next broadband fix. I hear there’s a new satellite broadband player in town that’s offering speeds of up to 12 Mbit down. Well, here’s hoping.
