March 9th, 2010 | by Admin |although i’ll admit that i’m only 18, i have been around my fair share of internet services between my university, and my friends houses and various public wifis. By far the clearwire service is the worst wireless service out there. three years ago my parents decided to switch from the slow AOL dial-up to a broadband service, i tried for a long time to get them to switch to like the sprint or even just AOL high speed, and out of nowhere they say they found this service called clearwire, never heard of it before in my life, and so i thought “whatever its a wireless broadband”, which was a serious improvement from our previous internet. anyway, we got the 2mb package, and was good for the first two weeks or so, we got 4 bars (which was the most we ever got), but me being a gamer, i pretty much sucked up the bandwidth and after another week the signal dropped to three bars. i found this odd since the receiver had not been moved at all. when i got my new
laptop about 4 weeks later, its a lenovo and they have some sort of app for vista that tells you the broadband speeds of the network you’re on (very cool app, i lost it when i switched to win 7 tho, if anyone has any ides about that i’d appreciate it). anyway, the app showed that the speed was only going at 56kb, which i found aggravating because i know we pay for more than that. of course tho, my dad being no tech geek thought that my app wasn’t accurate, so nothing has been done about the situation, especially since all he does check his email. but then a year and a half ago, the fricken receiver breaks, it just breaks, no more signal, absolutely nothing, and we have no internet for two weeks while they send us a replacement, TWO WEEKS! on top of all of this, my xbox live connection is sketchy, i have resorted to playing in the dead of night when no one else is on because any other time it kicks me out in the middle of a match or wont let me connect
at all. AND NOW after THREE YEARS of being a client of them, last week our internet crapped out again, except this time the service tech tried to tell us that there was a problem with our router (which is a belkin router, we use the clearwire receiver as an extension), which i know for a fact is working properly. so now im off to attempt yet again to get my dad to call them up and tell them F*** YOU because we too are getting massively anally raped by their service. thanks for letting me rant, feels oh so good that i am not alone

I’ve had clear wire for about 2 years now. I regret the decision of ever purchasing their service. I’ve had many numerous internet servers ranging from DSL, Comcast, dial up and now clear wire. Comcast was the best one we had but it failed once we installed satellite TV which made it so we could only get Comcast internet in one room of the house. We changed over to clearwire when I heard about them when I was at a fair. They said they were faster than Dial up (which isn’t hard to do) and that they were high speed internet. If this is high speed internet then I wonder what low speed internet is…. or even average. It is horrible! The modem has 5 lights on it to indicate what you internet speed is. When we first started we used to get 3 dots. However after a few months that went down to 2 and now I only get 1… if I’m lucky. Half the time I don’t even receive signal at all. You have to turn the modem in different directions to where even a tiny degree will change its speed… but not enough. The internet is horrible, you can’t stream videos, can’t watch youtube, takes hours just to do ONE homework assignment online or sign up for classes and half the time the websites won’t load at all. January and February I had 0 internet at all. The speed of the internet doesn’t even correlate with weather as during bad weather I have sometimes a better signal than even on sunny days! I hate clear wire and I recommend you stay away from them and their lousy contract. They will never come to your house to fix anything or give you a refund and if they do then they will use some lame excuse that you have “metal objects” near the modem which is slowing it down. When this contract is over I will never go back to them again even if it means I need to go dial up which is actually faster regardless of what they say.

CLEAR IS THE WORST SERVICE EVER. I HAD IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW AND I HAVE NOT CANCLED IT BECAUSE IM ON A CONTRACT. I CANT WAIT TILL THE CONTRACT IS OVER. IT’S SOOOO SLOW NO MATTER WHAT. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW LAPTOP NO VIRUS NO SPAM OR NOTHING AND ITS STILL SLOW. IM SO MAD I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. ITS SUCKS DONT BOTHER.
