Clearwire Internet Sucks and Customers Are Given Bad Service – User Submission

Clearwire Internet Sucks and Customers Are Given Bad Service

Clearwire internet service is a new internet service provider that’s popping up all over the place like Cricket did years ago. Clear promises a 4G network, low prices, and no credit checks, but doesn’t advertise these five reasons why Clearwire sucks.

1. Bad Coverage Areas

Verizon claims that “there’s a map for that”, AT&T states “there’s an app for that” but Clearwire’s stance is “there’s crap for that.” If you plan on buying one of Clear’s wireless broadband cards; don’t plan on travelling with it. Clearwire doesn’t cover 15 U.S. states (popular ones like California, Nevada, New York and Florida) and has bad wireless internet coverage in the states that it currently covers. What good is having 4G if you’re limited to just one area? If you’re out of town, you’ll be charged for internet service you can’t use – which sucks.

2. Speed

Clear internet service throws around the word 4G as if it was guaranteed, but the only guarantee is that the internet speed sucks if you’re on the go. The speed of Clearwire internet is based on location and if you’re always on the go, you’ll want to avoid the bad speed that comes with clear internet service. 4G is supposed to go up to 10 times faster than 3G internet and it’s obvious that Clear didn’t master this technology before introducing it to the public.

3. Windows 7 issues

Windows 7 was released 10.22.2009 and clear still hasn’t fixed its issues with Windows 7. To be fair Clearwire did update their online drivers with a Windows 7 update, but how will Clearwire customers get access to those drivers if they can’t get on the internet? It would be simple if Clear made a disk to pass to customers, but they leave their salespeople hanging and their customers out in the cold – Clear internet service doesn’t work right out the box with Windows 7.

4. The hardware is cheap

I work at an electronics store and customers are always complaining or trying to return broken wireless broadband modems or complaining about their shoddy modems at home. The wireless broadband cards are easily broken in USB ports, can split in half, and won’t live long while used on laptops (what they’re intended to be used for).

5. It has its own hate website

When there is so much interest in the fact that your product sucks that an entire website can be formed with complaints alone; something is wrong with your product. Clearwiresucks.com was created to help people broadcast their hatred and frustration about a product they had enough faith in to buy and got totally ripped off by. Clearwiresucks.com is not a website where one guy is angry and just venting his frustrations; Clearwiresucks.com is filled with various ex-Clear customers from all over the U.S. that all know one truth – Clear internet sucks.

OH MY GOD! You know how you feel when you know something others dont? and when you try to tell them the truth they really dont believe you? I am glad to have found this website. I dropped verizon for clear, and am now back with verizon. I had my credit card charged 3 times in one month, the customer service reps continually hung up on me, my internet was at a speed that seemed more like dial up, this ‘clear’ crap is the worst invention ever! GARBAGE! thanks for the website, and a chance to yell about how terrible this scam of a “company” is!

This is the worst provider I have ever delt with. It is so slow and will not work with NetFlix or any vidio streaming. When I went to cancel they ripped me off, wanted everything I have. Clearly inferior. Stay away from these people and service.

Well, I reached my 1 month and 7 day mark and officially realize how bad this service is! It’s a complete trap, . . . right out of the box, I couldn’t get online, I kept getting an installation page, I worked on the connection issue for a full day with 4 different phone reps and 2 online chat reps and somehow I couldn’t get it to redirect to a real homepage and what was worse is that they didn’t know what they were doing at all! I was blessed to have worked for 6 years at Comcast and applied some of the techniques from there to determine what was wrong. The only solution was to attach the router and by doing so, I received a 192 ip address instead of the ip address set for the modem. So far so.

14 days pass and now the modem constantly drops offline, . . .I call again and still no real help, eventually, after 2 days of suffering and resetting and renewing/releasing, it dramatically came back on on its on. 14 more days, and I was back to drop outs for another whole day. Today is officially, 1 month and 7 days and guess what? I can’t keep a steady speed. I can get online, but really slow, for 3 days now, I have struggled with youtube and facebook uploads, assuming that I had saved too much to browser and that I may have bogged it down, I delete practically everything, clear cache, system restore, disk cleanup and defragment. After several resets and frustration, I decided to a ping test via Command Prompt and go to http://www.speedtest.net to follow up. Discovering that my uploads/downloads or a complete joke, I call them to get assistance.

That was a joke too. At first the girl agreed that I had speed issues, then she kept putting me on hold, saying that she was checking the area, then she came back and after I quoted her the same sorry tests (she kept making me test it, like it was going to suddenly stabilize on its on), she decided that the same numbers that I was quoting out were good!! How crazy was that! She’s telling me that the nearest tower is only so far away and that the readings on the modem were perfect! I laughed and said that you had me remove the ethernet cord and they were perfect then too, what does that mean? Just because my modem can detect a tower, doesn’t confirm how fast it’s receiving that signal, just that the connection is stable which isn’t good enough. I demanded a supervisor, the sup didn’t understand either, and for some crazy reason, nobody sounded American. Not that that bothered me, but since they neither had a reasonable answer, I had to question their expertise. I requested a new modem, that’s when dude went ape on me and said he needed to transfer me.

I get transfered back to the states for real support, the Speed Dept. Dude determines that for the last 20 hours, the tower was being bombarded with waaaaay too many users and his direct advice to me was to cancel! Wow, I’m thinking, even their own people don’t believe in the service! Dude was like, they need a bigger tower and that I shouldn’t count on them doing this correction any time soon. He also stated that I had a cap of 20Gs a month and that I was already at 11. I kind of lost it and said that I didn’t know that there was a limit, he was like there isn’t, but to expect the speed to go slower at someone point at the end of the month or depending how soon I use up my allotted amount!

This is crazy! I beg you, read this review and take heed. This is a contract deal and you have to convince them to cancel your service WITHOUT a termination fee. Lucky for them, it’s over 30 days, so I have a lot of convincing to do, . . . .
