Burn in hell ClearWire/Clear – User Submission by David W.

This is my story….Ok so about 8 months ago my wife(my girlfriend at the time) and I had Suddenlink cable+ Internet. We ended up finding cheaper TV programing through Dish Network satalite. I have no complaints about Dish Network, its always reliable and we get tons of channels for half the price…however there is a downside to every upside…Dish network is working togather with the dreaded Clear…I was young and naieve at the time…I figuered if satalite was taking up the cable lines Id have to bundle with Clear anyway and I didnt think it would be much of a difference….boy was I wrong….with suddenlink my 8mbps was perfect for gaming online and computer work. Well i didnt think there would be much of a difference…the first few days of Clear we realised everything was slow but just sort of dealt with it and a few months later was the same even though we had 5 bars light on our modem…well since then we have moved twice…we are now in a beautiful 3 bedroom 3 bath town house(just moved in about 2 weeks ago)…but guess what…yeah…signal is crap. I had a Dish Network tech at our new house setting up the dish and I decided I would plug in my Clear modem and see if my signal was any better. The damn thing wouldnt even connect, just lights scrolling across….a few days later I finally got 2 bars and now its inconsistant anywhere between no bars and 3 bars. But about 70% of the time it has no signal. Ive called multiple times talking to reps who didnt know what the fuck they were talking about. The first woman said that I was slightly out of the coverage area but that none of their towers were down or anything so I should just be able to turn my modem a 1/4 turn and wait 30 seconds then try again till I got a good signal, then she transfered me to a tech rep who said that a tower was down in my area(not 5 mins before I was told no towers were down…I must have impecable timing) well he told me to wait till tomorrow and the tower should be back up, since that tower was down more people were using the tower I was on…well anyway I waited….signal still sucked. I tried to cancel my service today through online chat, I was told to call 888-888-3113 and talk to technical because they are the only ones that can tell me how much I owe to cancel…I called 888-888-3113 and pressed 4 for technical….turns out they are closed on the weekends…Guess Ill have to call tomorrow…but I talked to a rep again she said they usually calculate a 1 year contract by $120 as the starting rate and then for every month you had “service” with them they knock off $4 so Im looking at like $90 to cancel…man that sounds great…however Ive read a bunch of stories on this site saying how everyone is getting screwed when they cancel….I just have 4 months to go….Anyway Suddenlink said they would be more than happy to run a second cable line so I could have cable internet again….as of right now my Clear modem keeps timing out….My parents actually live right next door to my wife and I so my parents have given me thier password to their wireless internet which is Suddenlink 8mbps. I hope to have my own Suddenlink soon but untill then I guess Xbox live is out of the question….I fucking hate Clear/Clearwire and I hope everyone reads this and decides to go with someone else…Ill definately make sure to get the word out and thank you so much for putting up this website! Buyer beware, stay away from Clear!

Clear should be shut down for their illegal business practices. I called to cancel my service, which they did while I was on the phone with them, and I am still being billed. They should get customer service representatives that comprehend simple English. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with “Jill” trying to explain that I canceled my account on the 9th and my account was illegally billed on the 15th. After 45 minutes I was told the money would be back in my account within 24 to 48 hours. Bull! One week later, still no money. These people lure you in with no contracts and month to month billing……..sure, but they don’t stop billing after you are smart enough to cancel! Tell EVERYONE you know never to buy their service. These people are criminals.
