I work for Clear – Anonymous Clear/Clearwire Employee Submission

January 22nd, 2010 | by Admin |

I received this submission from a Clear/Clearwire Employee. To protect his job, I have made this post anonymous on his behalf

-Tim

Hello all
I work for this company and the service sucks,
Just the other day I sold 2 voice lines to a business, I schedule time to install the lines for the customer
And when I got there, to the customers site I set up the customer and the service worked fine. After 10 minutes it went down
And never came back up, I called customer care and got an answer machine telling me to call back later.
So I waited and called back 20 minutes later same outcome.

I told the customer, to stay with AT&T because I will not let clear ruin your business
I my get fired for this but my integrity is more important.

hey i used to work for clear/clearwire…and let me tell u how bad I felt everyday LYING to innocent people! Honestly, we were told to LIE to customers-lying about tower failures (when it was only their service that sucked), lying about PRE auth holds ( when really clear jus wants your money), lying about speeds (when its slower than it says it is) Lying about price plans (when you are paying more than whats told) All of these lies because clear sales rep lie to customers and we have to cover for them. Honestly, i can say that if you are not happy with clear CANCEL YOUR SERVICE!!! Yes they will lie to you and try to keep you as customers, but its not worth it. RETENTION will tell you that they can offer you “special” offers, when really those offers are avaialble 365 days a year!!!!!! Im so glad I dont work for that company anymore, and their products suck!! so if you have clear/clearwire…or know someone who does, please do the right thing. Or else, you will be locked into a contract and will suffer!

They have fired so many good people just because. Its a shame that they can do this to people lives. Its not ok to treat people like this.

I was just terminated by CW as market manager. Boy oh boy do I know stuff…But due to confidentiality I can’t reveal it..of course unless I’m required to in court.

The story behind CW is like Jack Nicholson’s rant in the movie A Few Good Men:

You want the truth, you want the truth…you can’t handle the truth. In my case sr. management blows smoke and frankly couldn’t accept the truth.

    Call me as a witness.

OK….you’ve convinced me to blow off their sales recruitment seminar tomorrow.

    They sound REALLY scary.

I went for an interview today. I asked if they had any backup for people who worked there. It seems they would not train you very much. About 3 to 5 days on the phone. They wanted a peson with a Network + Certificate. But they would not want to train you for the trouble shooting problems with the system.I asked if you had a problem that you could not answer is there any manaul to refere to regarding the system? If a lot of problems regarding on issure, no there is not channel to send it to.There is not much training regarding their operations. They ecpect to know everything when yo walk in the place of work. Did Sprit buy into the company? The BBB gave the company C-. When I was asked a question why is there a slow down speed you should know why it is. But if the system is slow to begain with and you have a bless OS ther is not much else to work with. After 9PM it really slows down to a craw. I should gave the customer a song and dance when the system is not woring.

IT proves to me they are not much on training people. You may the tools and know how but they shouls give the infomatin on problems and how to solve them. Not to tell you you do not under stand what we are asking you during the interview and he knows there is no training at the company for new hires. it was an experience that day!!!!!!!!

I recently worked for clear also.I can affirm previous comments about training.Sure there was some training. However, it did not pertain to the actual job! So they throw you on the phones to “help” customers and you have no idea what to do or even how to work the various programs to try to help. Then you have to repeat the same steps the customer already did before a higher tech will even take the call. You do have to lie which goes against all my morals! I’m sorry to those whom I have tried to help and failed. The techs on the phone are trying to feed their families and most are not mean and nasty. If clear wants you to have the “common knowledge as a certified tech., then they should send you to college . Most people they hire including me, have very little technical background. They like to assume you have more knowledge than you have. Thank you to all my nice customers I served. To those whom are mean….please take into consideration this post.

I am a former Clear employee and can say that Clear treats their employees so bad, if you get sick or have to have surgery that might keep you out for a week, You are fired. 12.00 an hour , you cant afford to work there and spend the day trying to convince customers to keep a product that does not work.

I will let you know that they also pay their tech
support/billing reps $9/hr and they are now pressuring us to get
customers off the phone in less than 10 minutes, or else we’re
    canned.

As of 1/5/11, Clear(wire) has issued orders to The Connection, their ‘contracted’ in-bound call center to officially close all their locations that are taking calls for Clear(wire). These jobs have been sent to three call centers in the Philipines (Makati, Bacoor, and Quazon). This move has resulted in approximately 650 Americans to loose their jobs since September 2010 when Clear(wire) contracted TeleTech and Stream to start taking these calls. This move is fully shutting down 2 call centers in the U.S. and scaling back employment at two others. Clear(wire) will obviously take money from Americans and give it to other countries. My best wishes to those who will be needing assistance from Clear(wire) Customer Care after February 4, 2011.

I remember being told that taking this job would change mylife and zipcode.. You will be rich and yaka yaka yaka.. Within 3 weeks into the job we got all IAE’s from around the country coming into our office telling rookies “you must take ownership of your dealers. You must stay on top of them like dogs, if not you will loose your job within 3 months guaranteed.” Looking back only 2 out of 10 pass 3 months of employment. In fact, Jim Ryder’s philosophy was “Fire a handful of IAE’s and make examples out of them to show them this is real.” Even worse Clear buys your silence when they pkg everyone out or loose out on the pkg. LOL.. I just remembered, every employee who took their complaints to HR or Whisle Blower ended up getting a severance pkg within 4 weeks tops, or well as soon as they were able to figure out who called. If they couldn’t ID the caller they would just fire a bunch to make sure they exterminated the caller. I could right a book. Sick!
