Damn Right – User Submission Amy C.
January 20th, 2010 | by Admin |We were “sold” on the company Clearwire at a Best Buy store in San Antonio, with their claim they’d fully be launched in San Antonio, Texas on November 1, 2009 (soft opening). When we first signed up, we were assured we’d have “super high speed” internet, but instead got less than dial-up speeds. When we continued to have crappy service, we finally called tech support, who stated our nearest tower was 7 or 8 miles away, & San Antonio was NOWHERE NEAR ready to launch in San Antonio! We were LIED TO & told there were over 120 towers in San Antonio. The tech support person admitted there were LESS THAN 20 towers! We canceled services immediately. We tried working this out with Best Buy (where we purchased everything), but to no avail…..”they’re just contractors.” After hours of being on the phone, & a lot of arguing with Clearwire’s customer service rep, they wanted us to pawn off their modems on 2 of our friends & they would waive the “cancellation fee,” yet they weren’t really having services here in town, & supposedly don’t have a contract requirement. They finally agreed, 4 days later, & us threatening to call the A/G’s office, & Better Business Bureau, to refund our $66.22. They e-mailed us labels to ship back the modems…..even though we got it at Best Buy. I had to drive my butt to a UPS (and waste my gas) to mail back the modems. Jan. 15, 2010, I woke up to find $182.44 STOLEN out of my account by Clear for “back pay of monthly services.” They’d called the night before asking us to come back to “Clearwire.” We said, “No, quit calling us, or we’ll report you to the A/G’s office for harassment. When calling their customer service line, they offered to give me $82.44 back, but keep $100 for their modems. This is after hours of being on the phone to track down a member of management, as well as a lot more arguing. WHAT?!?!?!? They are now stealing from my 3-year-old little girl……in which this is the account where her child support payment goes. That, & we already returned their stupid modems, MONTHS ago. They refuse to check their status as to the last time we’d used the modems. We’ve also been receiving several calls over the last few months to “reactivate” our service with them, to which we’ve repeatedly said NO. When asking for a corporate number, they tried to give me a fax #. Who has a fax machine in their house? We asked for an e-mail address. “We don’t have one.” But, they can e-mail me a UPS label to ship back their modems? What about a physical address? 3525 E Post Road…..um, that’s where you send them money for a payment. I want a piece of this lawsuit……I told them when they call up to their corporate office, to make note that they’re stealing from my 3-year-old little girl!
