Screwed by Clearwire – User Submission
December 29th, 2009 | by Admin |I have been a clearwire customer for about three years now. No major problems but I just maily surf the net. My son who purchased a home very close to ours and without internet or cable service wanted something to get online with his playstation system. He tried out my clearwire and thought it would be fine for that. Called customer service about getting another modem added to my account (if there was a discount rate for two) or him just starting his own service in his name. I was told by customer service if we just added the modem to my account nothing would change as far as contracts or service I would just be billed for the other modem. I wouldnt need to pay any deposits or month in advance. Figured that would be the best so that it wouldnt add to the contracts and he could try for awhile at his place to see how he liked. Well after using just for playstation he decided to get set up with netflix to download some movies since he didnt have cable. What a mess. He can only download a few minutes at a time. Called clearwire and they told me there was nothing I could do but upgrade when I told them I just wanted to quit service I was told there was an early termination fee for both modems. /Seems now they are trying to tell me by me adding another modem to my account the first one started over and then there was a two year for second modem. I explained to CS that I was told there would be no change in contract if I added the modem to my account. She said that was not true and anytime there are changes your service starts over from that date. Told her why then would I start another service in my name if there was no advantage to doing so, no rate discounts. The only reason I left in my name and on my service was the benefit of not starting a new contract. Anyway they wanted over 350. to get out of contract. I am still fighting with them on this matter.
