Guess what my subject is… – User Submission by Monique W.
November 30th, 2009 | by Admin |Hello all;
Just thought I’d put my two cents in….My experience with clearwire has been similar to everyone’s but here’s a little new twist: I actually waited out my incredibly long ad dissapointing two year contract wich was supposed to be up in November 2009, but when I went to cancel, they said that my contract wasn’t up untill january of 2010….? So after hitting my head against the wall for being stuck with this crappy service for 3 more months, I checked my bills….turns out they gave me the first three months free after signing my contract and didn’t count the first three months against my term! I hate this company and all their slimy tactics. I hope this lawsuit wipes them out and gets the word out that the company is not worth the many headaches it’s given me!

I have been generally satisfied with Clearwire over the past year until just recently: this whole thing with aggressively redirecting my web browswer without my consent is absolutely outrageous. I have spent the past 2 weeks dealing with malware issues on my computer, and truthfully, this issue with Clearwire looked a lot like some of the malware I’ve been dealing with. I think I’ll send them a bill for my time in problem-solving their hijacking of my web browser and will cancel my service immediately, regardless of early termination fees. I feel betrayed and outraged by Clearwire! I mean come on–this is *my* computer and I have paid good money for an internet connection that will *serve* *me*–not that will serve *their* advertising objectives. Outrageous if not criminal!!

Good Afternoon,
I have been using unclearwire for approximately 3 Mos. it has been the worst decision I have made since I have been on-line over 15 years now. We have tried to get connectivity with Outlook Express it does not work. I am running at 10 MBPS, I am faster with my internal wireless network at 100 MBPS. The speed is inconsistent in my area. They use google as an email platform “Communist” they eliminate info by using there most difficult proprietary email program. I cannot wait to get out of this contract.
Bottom Line: I had Charter in Reno, Nevada and I desperately want to go back.
Best Regards,
Jimmie

I supposedly signed up for a 2 year contract with Clearwire and I didn’t even know it. I switched from Charter because they basically doubled my bill with them and I could not afford to have that happen. So after I saw an ad for Clearwire’s special $29.99 for life special I called for more information. They said that they could have someone over in a couple of days to install this for me (free installation, wow I thought) The guy comes over and sets my computer up etc and find the “best spot” for my modem (inconvenient spot by the way) and gives me my username and password (after signing their form). When I go online I have to accept their online agreement. So I click “I agree” and move on. I specifically told the guy that was here AND the guy on the phone that I didn’t want to have any longer than a 1 year contract. They assured me that was ok. I wasn’t happy with a contract at all as I didn’t have one with Charter and could cancel at anytime. So a year goes by and I have a bad experience with their service. Way too slow and my son can’t even watch a Youtube video without it stopping every few seconds. I decided to go back to Charter because they were offering a special again. It still costs more than Clearwire but the speed is so much faster. Anyway, I call and let the person on the phone know that I was calling a few days early because I wanted to make sure that I didn’t pass up my one year date. She said “uh oh I have bad news for you. You signed up for a 2 year contract and it will cost 175.00 to cancel early. I told her that I did not sign up for a 2 year contract that I specifically said I wanted a 1 year contract. She and her manager basically told me that that didn’t matter because I could not prove it and unless I had paperwork that proved it I would have to pay them or keep the service for another year. I asked them if they had proof that I signed up for a 2 year contract? He said that I agreed to it the first time I signed into my account. What a scam. I was almost tempted to quit them and pay the money but as I have a son in college now and I’m a single mom and I can’t afford to pay that fee. I probably shouldn’t even pay for high speed (yeah right) internet but I need it for work and my son needs it for school. I heard there is a class action law suit against them. Do I have to pay the fee and then wait to get the money back if Clearwire loses? I want out of my contract but they are holding me hostage because I can’t afford the late charge or the hit to my credit if I don’t pay up. They LIED to me when they said their service was WAY better than cable. I even asked the guy on the phone about gaming and watching movies (I have netflix where you can watch movies instantly on your computer, never had an issue with Charter watching these movies) He said no problem you can do that and more. He said Charter was notorious about signing up too many customers and then having their cables get bogged down and everyone’s speed suffers as a result. He said that wouldn’t happen with Clearwire because their service is “through the air” meaning satellite apparently. I live in Washington State and the last time I talked to them about their speed, I was promised that soon they are teaming up with Sprint and everyone’s service would soon speed up dramatically. Wonder when that will happen?

This is my last post. I want to warn anyone who is thinking about getting service with this company that they are the worst, most evil company in the world–and I have traveled everywhere and I am 50 years old. They lied to me, tried to rip me off, and made me miserable. I read one guy saying they made his wife cry. Yes, they will make you cry. That is pathetic. If you are a sadist and you enjoy pulling your own hair out and being abused and treated like pond scum on top of having nothing to show for the money you have spent…then by all means…Clear is your company. But, if you are sane, you will run, and run as fast as you can away from this evil company and their evil spawned employees. Merry Christmas to all who take my advice. To all who ignored this website and signed up anyway…looks like you got the coal in your stocking. May we all have a year made in telecommunications heaven. Sign me, out of Clear Hell.

I am having the exact same problem with them
They refuse to stop billing my card, and I was never under contract. I intentionally went monthly because of the bad reviews. Worse yet, for some reason my Discover credit card keeps accepting them, only to reverse after a continual stream of emails.
I tried changing the credit card on Clear’s site, but they purposely lock that information
Any other attempts to communicate are worthless, as they play games with hold and disconnecting you.
Clear are thieves. No question about it.

I dunno how they’re going to get any more money out of me. I pay with a Wal-Mart money card – I’m just going to take my card to Wal-Mart and remove all the money on the card. Then let Clear try to milk me for anything else. Turn me over to a bill collector, I could care less. Give me a bad credit rating – fuck them, who cares. I’m 64 years old – does Clear actually believe that can do anything to me that hasn’t already been tried?

I really want to cancel service, but clear is going to charge me an arm and a leg, and all 3 of my kids, anyone know how to cancel service with out getting charged cancellation fees.

How long do you have left in your contract? You could always try to negotiate the fee so your not going to get away without paying somnething. Or waite until they update there terms policy and say you don’t agree with it.
