I live in Reno, NV. I’ve had Clearwire for around 3 years and the pc card for a year, and everything has been great – until 2 months ago. All the sudden, my Internet connection started dropping, and I’ve have to reset my LAN or something to reconnect or disconnect my pc card and reinsert it. Then two weeks ago, it would drop me like every minute. I called them up, and the first guy was a jerk and talked down to me. He just told me to reinstall the driver, which I did and I still had problems. So I called again, and the guy was a lot nicer, but he told me to delete all my temporary Internet files, and I’m like WHAT??? He said do it, but I objected saying, I didn’t want to lose all my cookies to my bank accounts and favorite stores, etc. He said, it usually fixes the problem, so I finally relented and the problem continued. So then he said it was my pc card going out. So I took my laptop to the store, and they refused to give me a new pc card and insisted it was my driver, so they loaded a driver program. Well, it worked in the store, then I took it home, and guess what, disconnection. I just signed up for Charter Internet. $44/month regular and $32/month bundled with cable. Once I get that installed, I’m cancelling Clearwire, but I guess they’ll charge me $220 minus $5/month for however long I’ve had the pc card which is 1.5 years or $60 for a total charge of $160. I don’t care though, I’ll get that back in a year from switching to Charter Internet. I thought Clearwire would take off and I could use it anywhere in the nation, but everytime I check their coverage map I only see a couple dots added, and they’re like small towns. Pathetic.
