My Clearwire Story – User Submission by Jason G.
September 24th, 2009 | by Admin |To whom it may concern,
I’m glad to see I’m not alone. I thought I was going to go register clearwiresucks.com.
Anyways I was lied to multiple times by Clearwire reps. I kept Clearwire far longer than I had intented to because I would have been charged an “early termination fee” (which from my business law classes seems like a “penalty clause” which I understand to be illegal, if not only unethical) Anyways when I called at the end of my contract to cancel my account and zero out my balance, I was told by the account services rep that he would “wave the balance” as long as the modem was received. I waited to receive the UPS label for about a week, and when I started receiving daily phone calls I called them to have them send a second.
In the time that it took for me to get to the UPS store (I’m a full-time college student with 2 jobs) I was called by 4 different Clearwire call centers daily. Again I’m no lawyer but I know that it is illegal for debt collection agencies to harass people in their receivable accounts and think this activity is at best borderline harassment.
Yesterday my modem finally arrived and I was told that my account was now past due (thanks to the ass who told me not to pay my bill when I cancelled my account) and the rep. whom I talked to acted as if she was doing me a favor in only charging me $5 more than the bill as my bill had now escalated to somewhere just short of double where it was when I cancelled my service.
I paid the bill to get them off my ass, however I promised the representative with whom I spoke that I was going to make sure no person I knew was ever going to become a customer of clearwire.
I’d be happy to participate in the lawsuit, if by doing nothing other than publicizing the fact that Clearwire sucks.
Sincerely,
Jason G.

I regretfully got Clearwire service in February 2007 in Texas where I lived and worked. In May of 2007 I had to move back to North Carolina for family reasons. I contacted Clearwire to cancel the service and could not because of the bogus 2 year contract. The rep told me that if I could find someone else to take over the modem and contract, that would be the only way I would be free of this obligation. I took the raggety ass modem with me to NC and once there, found out that Clearwire did not (and still do not) offer service where I live. I have paid this bill for the last 2 years just waiting for the contract to expire. Now it has and I have cancelled my service. I honestly feel I would rather go back to dial-up before I give Clearwire another dime.
