I took over a Clearwire account with 9 months left on it after calling
an ad on Craigslist. I hooked it up when I got home — I lived in an
apartment in Lower Queen Anne, Seattle (very much downtown Seattle) –
and never got speeds higher than 100K. Yes, that’s “K” and not “Mb”. I
called several times and they always ran me through a song and dance
about putting the modem higher or on its side. It was ridiculous. I
didn’t ask to get out of the contract because I thought it would be
futile, so I just let it run out and canceled. Thankfully, they handled
the cancellation correctly. I would never recommend this service to
anyone, though. It is NOT high-speed Internet. Dial-up would have been
faster.
