Lawsuit Filed Against CLEARWIRE!

Sick of paying for service I’m not receiving from Clearwire – User Submission by Jennifer A.

My husband and I signed up for Clearwire last March, since we liked the idea of no cords and the prices were good for the advertised speeds. Even though our modem consistently shows 4 bars, our internet service is insanely slow. I called Customer Service about this, and got the whole “reboot the modem, test the speed,” etc., which I did with no help at all. Then, after pressing the Customer Service rep, I learned that you need to have ALL electronic devices at least 6-8 feet away from the Clearwire modem. They absolutely did not advertise that – we live in a tiny 550 sq foot 1 bedroom apartment, and it’s impossible to keep electronic devices 6-8 feet away from the modem. Apparently this “interference” from the electronic devices close to the modem causes our internet speed to slow gradually the longer it’s there. If Clearwire would have advertised this, I definitely would not have signed up, knowing that it wouldn’t be possible to keep electronic devices away from the modem. Besides, who seriously keeps their modem 6-8 feet away from their Computer, their wireless router, even their lamp? Seriously, that is ridiculous!!

Now, 6 months later, my husband and I are moving out of service area, and I apparently can’t get out of the contract even for that and have to pay a $190 termination fee. The rep this time told me that the only way to waive this fee was if I was moving to place where Clearwire advertises they provide service, but for some reason I don’t get a connection. Doesn’t make sense to me how they can charge me a fee for moving to a place where they cannot provide me service.

Please add my name to the lawsuit – I feel absolutely ripped off by Clearwire!!
