Automatic Extension of 2 Yr Contract – User Submission by Dennis

I tried to cancel my account today and the account representative goes through the usually “may I ask why your cancelling?” … and so I replied because of the inconsistent connection and basically got tired of having to move the Clearwire Modem around.

She then tell me that I still have another two months left on my current contract. I told the representative that I never agreed on any extension of contract. As far as I’m concern I fulfill me contract since I started my service with Clearwire on Oct 2005.

According to the Tanisia Clearwire rep. that a letter or a postcard was mail to me around October 2007 stating that a two year contract will not be charged on month and my contract will be automatically extended for 2 years unless a call Clearwire to opt out. First of all I don’t remember receiving such mail and second of all that a pretty shady business practice. Clearwire appears to be banking on user’s not to call back to opt out.

My question – IS THIS LEGAL???
