Lawsuit Filed Against CLEARWIRE!

What a rip off! – User Submission by Charles N.

July 29th, 2009 | by Tim |

What Clearwire is doing has to be stopped! The service in sub standard and this early termination fee is criminal.

I’m a software consultant and I’ve been unemployed since January. I’ve been paying $42.42 a month for the basic Clearwire service for well over a year. Last month I noticed that the same service was being offered for $29.99 a month so I called to complain and cancel my service. At that time the person I spoke to said that my termination fee would be $125.00. I told her to cancel my service. She then said that she could lower the cost of my service and asked me would I like to do that instead. I agreed.

Now I am moving from Seattle to Sacramento and Clearwire does not offer service in Sacramento so I want to cancel my service. They have now informed me that since my service cost was lowered my contract was automatically extended another 12 months and the termination fee is $210.00 + next month’s charges.

This brings the total termination fee to nearly $250.00. And there seems to be nothing that I can do about it since they can automatically take money from my checking account. On top of that I can’t just return their modem to a store, I have to wait 24 to 48 hour to receive an email for a UPS label to ship the modem back. They say until they get their modem back my account is not closed and I will be charged for next month’s service even though I’ll be Sacramento by the 1st of August.

So ok they got me for $250.00 now, but I guarantee that there losing 100 times more than that because of their corrupt business practice. No one in my circle of friends will ever use Clearwire.

I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND “CRAPWIRE” TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN!

Regards,
Charles N

They charge to a credit card and never tell you that there is a 24 month contract, you call, they no problem , they tell you the monthly fee, you agree. Service is sub par or no service for hours upon hours, tech support, unplug and plug back in after 5 minutes sometimes this works, but mostly it does not. For me i got american express to stop payment by telling them i had no signed contract and when they could not produce this american express reported it as fraudulent billing and took the charges off. Now clearwire calls me several times a day, i tell them that even if i had a contract that it is a 2 way street they provide service i pay for that service, since service sucked they did not perform there end of the contract, if there was a contract I have not heard from them for 2 days . Just wanted to get this posted, my brother is an attorney and told me that they must provide service, no service you have the right to cancel. Call your bank call your credit card company service sucks and u do not have to pay
