July 8th, 2009 | by Tim |Hello my name is Mike, I’ve had clearwire for at least 2 years. I originally opted to go with the slower speed modem at the time for cost reasons, well like I said 2 years. I went to the main store here in town to get a new modem, ours only gets 2 bars, and I don’t care how you rotate the damn modem I would only get 2 bars, so I went in and asked for a new modem and a upgrade for high speed internet. First thing they said is it’s not my modem that’s a problem but the position of it, or it could be the double glass windows or the fact my home is a brick home, ok, so after that I got a new modem and an upgrade to high speed internet and they told me since I’ve been a good customer for as long as I have they won’t charge me more each month, but the catch was that I agree to a 1 year contract, now I remind you all of this is being done over the phone, so I agreed. I’m home now thinking I have high speed internet and i’m going to have more bars, well no high speed and 2 bars. So I call and complained, a couple hours on the phone and end result is that their working on it and they will get back with me. 1 month later I call give them my ticket # which they gave me in reference to my complaint, 1 1/2 hours later there’s a problem, good news is it will be fixed at the end of July or first week in August. Well I had enough said am cancelling my account, they said they would credit me for May, June, July, then resume my regular payments. I said no, back in May is when I wanted the service which you did not give, and I’m the one who has to keep calling and get the run around, so I’m done. Their response was fine, the will send a package so I can return their stuff to the nearest FED EX , and then there will be a termination fee of $220.00 dollars, I said what? They said since their not charging me for May, June and August that they are doing their part , and that if I fail to do mine, which is to remain with them for another year once they got the problem fixed at the end of July or first week in August, Then their going to charge $200.00 for a termination fee. I paid my bills online – debt card, I called and cancelled that so they can’t withdrawl nothing. I’m not sure what will happen next, I will get a bill and if i don’t pay it goes to collections which of course hurts my credit, So i would have to say yes they suck!

Clearwire sucks. I work from home sometimes. After few hours on-line the speed drops to a crawl!! I am positive this is due to their traffic shapping. My speed test shows I am way, way, way under the national average of 5+ Mbps download. I am going back to DSL – went for Clearwire for the quick installation since I had just moved. Clearwire is considered a joke by network experts.
