I no longer know what to do! – User Submission by Sara K.

I have read some of the other complaints on here and am finding myself get very discouraged. I am also in a similar situation. I also was fooled into thinking clearwire was fast, and it was the great new thing out there. So I signed up for it. They convinced me to get the two year contract because it is cheaper monthly. I figured fine, because I will always need the internet; not anticipating that it would never work. Well I ordered it, and it came. Three days after I got I realized how slow it was, never getting the connection speed that I was paying for. I called them, they would send me to tech support and walk me through resetting it. It still wouldn’t work. Then they told me it was slow because I lived by the University and it was a highly congested area (which SHOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED!). The tech guy also told me that getting .9 MB speed was lucky, even though I was paying for the 1.5 speed. So finally I asked if I could just cancel it because it was just not worth it. They told me that it was 8 days after I ordered it, and they couldn’t do it without charging me $175. They said they would have let me cancel the day prior without charges. I had only had the modem for 3 days!! So a few months later I upgraded to the fastest speed they offered, hoping for a decent connection. On the screen online it allowed me to change my contract length from 2 years to one year. So I did that.

So I ended up keeping it for a year, and now I have just moved. Same city, different location and get NO reception at all. So I called them. Same issue, saying even though that allowed me to change my contract length online while I upgraded the speed that it was not valid and doesn’t count. I told them that they had to honor it, and it was illegal to do otherwise. They still keep billing me. I don’t know what to do, all their representatives are unhelpful and extremely rude.
