They lie to their customers, and then hold you hostage for $220 to get out of their contract, which by the way they don’t honor themselves) Up to 1.5MB is right, 0.1 is UP to 1.5MB. Give me a break! Now, that is double speak if I have ever heard it! How about this?…I’ll pay you UP to $29.99 a month for your shitty ass service? I work as a Network Administrator, I deal with customers on a daily basis, and if I EVER treated any of my customers the way the Clearwire has treated me or others that I have been reading about, I would be out on my ass without a job…but these assholes seemed to be golden in some magical way! Here is my lovely experience with their so called “Tech Support”…So far, I have been through 3 modems with them, all of which were “Refurbs”, and each time I speak with their Tech Support, I get a different story…Here are some good ones: “It a bad modem”, “It’s your Router”, “It’s the signal”, “It’s not the signal”, “I’m showing that you have a great signal”, “I’ll send a remote command to your modem to reset it”, “Can you unplug from the router and then plug into the modem, now do it in reverse”,(done this one at least 5 separate times while on the phone with them), “Reboot you computer”, “No, the lights on the modem have nothing to do with the signal strength”, “Yes, the lights on the modem have to do with signal strength”, “I see that your modem modulation is excellent”, “No, we don’t throttle network bandwidth”, “You download way too much”, “The Network Management Software had detected that you have “Excessive Download Usage” so we have limited your network connection and it will reset itself in one hour” (this was told to me after having been gone all day at work and coming home to do my online banking in the evening). “Maybe someone else has access to your router”, “I’ll have second level support give you a call once they find out what the problem is”, and to top it off, I have been disconnected while on the online chat window or completely ignored sitting there waiting for someone to acknowledge that I am there, or told to call the 1-888 number even though it is after 10:00pm. This is just a small portion of that bullshit that I have had to deal with just to have internet access. These assholes think that they created the web by the way that they treat everyone, it’s our privledge to have this service from them or something??? I pay for the service of having a 2MB download capability, but after 50 thousand speed tests from every site that I could find, I get at best 0.5MB on average, with a minimum latency of 400+, each and every time! Funny thing is that when I am on the phone with them, my connection seems to increase, but as soon as I hang up, it goes to shit again! Hmmmm? And they don’t throttle bandwidth? I AM NOT GETTING WHAT I AM PAYING FOR!!! I am in Anchorage, AK and there is only one backbone coming out of Alaska and it is not Clearwire’s! Even the layman can see that they do not have the ability to ensure adequate bandwidth for all of their customers. I work in the IT industry, and when your users complain that there is slowness in the network or that they are limited in doing whatever it is that they need to do, you evaluate your network and you upgrade if necessary, to accommodate your users. Plain and simple. You do not lie, cheat or steal, you do not place blame on others or them, and you do not treat the people that gave you the benefit of the doubt, like they are the pieces of shit that you really are! I hope and pray to God that Clearwire get the shit sued outta them for false advertising, lying to it’s customers and unfair business practices! Early Termination Fee my hairy ass! This sorry ass company is gonna get theirs in the end…just watch. My only wish now is not for my 2MB download like what I have been paying for, but to have only been apart of the lawsuit that has since been filed against them…MAN HOW I WISH I COULD BE THERE!!!

Exactly! This is what they need to do. I really don’t understand why they cannot having this evaluated. It’s like general businees, if you put out a product and you’ve receiving more complaints and more problems than compliments, then you either find ways to make it better, or better yet, reimburse their subscibers for a credit and just go out of business. It seems like the Technical Support are a bunch of stringed puppets that keeps saying the same damn thing to turn something around for a few seconds for a good signal. That’s stupid. What we need to do is to kidnap a representive and show them first hand how’s it running/ that might do the trick.

I too have problems with Clear the so called G4.
I have never moved my modem, its in the same place and has always got 4 lights or bars like the cell phones. Now in the daytime I only get 2 and afternoon and evening all I can get is 1 light or bar, which is as slow as dial up. Asking around I find that is the name one reason for people QUITTING Clear. So ask around there is lawyer’s looking for case action suit againist Clear and Clearwire and Now Comcast.

A bit more info..Does this sound familure to anyone else?I am on Clearwires 2 mb service (clear premium) and I have problems with speed so I have turned to a torrent to download TV episodes I want to watch the following night.True blood and Merlin and so on.Anyway now my service is being capped due to their usage policy (EUP)?I am downloading 200 kbps on a 2 mbps service and I am using too much bandwith?So I compromised and set the upload limit to 1kbps (lowest setting)and my download speed to no more than 100kbps.Not that I ever get even 100kbps anyway ,more like 32 kbps but thats another story for later..You would think this would have solved the problem..Nope…LOL I have been flagged again for using too much bandwith..The tech told me that its not the speed but more on the lines of the size of files being downloaded and their software will cap me automatically..LMAO..Listen folks if you need internet services for anything other than general web browsing or emails PLEASE do not get Clearwire.Be forewarned…Even on a 2mbps service you are not allowed to download anything with out being cut back speedwise..Heres one that all should be aware of..I on turned off my computer (not sleep mode or standby) but fully off , no power and I was told me service was capped due to over downloading again.I explained to the tech that it was not possible!My pc was not even online durring the hours he said there was heavy usage..Something is wrong with their servers or software..Or someone has figured out a way to hack the Nextnet modems.Even without a router attached.Clearwire needs more help and training so they can get a clue and then be able to offer help to users..I am still trying to make this service work for me but I must admit my IQ level is falling after each call to Clearwires customer service and L2 techs..I will keep ya all posted..

I recently attempted to cancel my service with Clearwire which I have had since June of 2006. I was under the impression that my contract was over so I would be able to cancel without any penalties! Wrong! They told me I would have to pay an early termination fee. I told them I would not and that I was canceling because my connection speeds were slow. They told me too bad. They conned me into going into a new contract by telling me I was a valued customer and they wanted me to try their new phone service. However, the fact that I would be entering a new contract was never explained. When I asked them when I went into a new contract they told me that it was when I signed up for phone service. I told them I never agreed to a new contract and they said it was in my terms of service in my web account which I never went to. So then after telling me that they wouldn’t charge my credit card anymore, they did anyway. When I called to complain about this, they told me that there was nothing that I could do. I would just have to accept it. I should have gone into a new contract, when I told them that I didn’t, they said, well if you didn’t then somenone must have climbed through your bedroom window and done it for you. I am appauled by their business practices. When I asked to speak to a supervisor they told me that I would have to leave a message and they would call me back within 2-4 days, I told them I would hold, and I wanted to talk to one at that time. When I finally did get to talk to one, they still could do nothing to help me. All I have to say is I’m not done dealing with them. Not only does their service suck, but so does their customer service. I’m surprised that they are still in business. They are horrible. I will make sure to tell everyone about them. I am in the military and have been to combat twice, never have I been talked to so disrepectively.

I canceled my services with Clear on Dec. 9, 2009. I thought when I canceled my services that was the end of everything but needless to say Clear took 38.00 out of my account and made my account overdrawn. I called to find out why the customer service rep said it was because the equipment was not returned to them yet. I thought about all the money I gave to Clear to start the services and I assumed the modem and usb card was mine. What a rip off! I would not recommend anyone to Clear!
