Clearwire Corporate

Complaint Description:
Where to begin- Clearwire advertises speeds of 1.5mbps. Using www.speedtest.net I consistently get less then 400 kbps speeds (4 times slower then what’s advertised!!!). The sales person that sold me the service told me I would have “no problem” streaming movies from netflix.com. However, I can barely even load the applet required to load the movie, let alone watch the movie itself. Their false advertising and shoddy speeds are only the beginning though. I have been in customer service for years and the treatment I received on the phone was deplorable. They’re rude, uncaring, and basically tell you that it’s somehow your fault that the service is not working as advertised. If you need any more proof of what a horrific company this is please check out www.clearwiresucks.com or any of the reviews of Clearwire on yelp.com. Last but not least I tried to cancel my service and they quoted me over $200.00 to terminate.. REALLY?! Is this 1992 when cell phones first came out, are you kidding me? The salesperson that sold me the service never told me about a cancellation fee (I asked) and not only is there the exorbitant termination fee, but they said I was signed up for a 2 year service agreement when I only agreed to 1 year. I am not alone with any of these issues (see previously mentioned websites) and I pray that someone puts these scam artists out of business. They are stealing people’s hard earned money by running faulty advertising and shady business practices.
Your Desired Resolution:
I would like Clearwire to cancel my account without charging me a ridiculous termination fee. The reason I want to cancel is because they are not providing the service they claim to, there is absolutely no way I should have to pay to cancel a service that DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED!!!
This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response. It is our policy to allow the business 10 working days to respond to your complaint. You will be notified when the business has responded.

I’ll be sure to post the response I get – surely we will all get a laugh out of it.

Reporting to the BBB is the best way to go, but it has to be a valid complaint, Let me explain.
While we all hate termination fees, it is our responsibility to read the fine print. What I am filing a complaint about is the product – Connection speed. It is a breach of contract if they are not providing the product described in the contract, which in turn should warrent a complete release from the contract. I have had to place 2-4 calls a month every month for the past 8 months regarding poor connection speeds, having now moved on to a more recently refurbished modem. They are all used modems by the way, as described by a service tech while working on one of the connection issues I’ve had. This was brough out while discussing why I was originally handed a box with the word “Demo” hand written on the box from the salesman (Noticed it once I got home). The poor connection problems are continuing despite being able to get 4 bars on the modem and I’ve been told I’m practically located less than a couple blocks from the tower.
Anyone considering Clearwire for gaming I’d have to advise putting the idea completely out of your head.
