Victory – Dylan A.
May 1st, 2009 | by Admin |So, I signed into that stupid 2 year contract 11 months ago. Since then, I’ve been dealing with internet speeds I haven’t experienced since dial-up, except that the signal was inconsistent, making streaming video and any flash based websites unbearable. This was not how the service was sold to me.
Around the corner from my work, every so often, ClearWire will set up a table on the sidewalk. My boss and I were joking about how great it would be if I set up a table adjacent to theirs on such days and asked anybody who stopped by their tent to come and talk to me about what that contract actually stipulates. I would tell the CW reps that I would stop as soon as they let me out of my contract and waived the ridiculous extermination fee. There would be banners, t-shirts.
This was all a dreamy fantasy until yesterday when I decided to devote energy to calling ClearWire and let them know how I intended to humiliate them on the street if they didn’t meet my demands. I was referred to a representative named Joann and after I filled her in on my litany of complaints about the service, the conversation went a little like this:
“… so I’d like out of my contract and I’d like you to waive the extermination fee.”
She scoffed, “Well, that’s not possible.”
“What are my options then?”
“You can return your modem to our processing facility and we will assess the extermination fee to the credit card associated with your account.”
Needless to say, at this point, things got nasty. I told her of my plans to make a public mockery of her company and she accused me of threatening her and then I asked if I could speak to her supervisor. I was put on hold for about 5 minutes and then the line went dead. I don’t think Joann liked me very much
I was determined.
So I called back and asked the first representative I talked to to put me on the phone with somebody who could meet my demands. I talked to a very nice supervisor, she listened to my story and told me she could only take a few months off my contract if I paid some weird fee. I told her that wasn’t good enough, mentioned a certain class action lawsuit being filed and she put me on hold. She came back to tell me she would switch the initial agreement to a 1 year contract if I paid the installation fee ($50) that was waived for signing a 2 year deal, which made me able to cancel the service. I took it, I’m happy, no more bullshit ClearWire.

Very interesting. This TOTALLY reminds me of our horrendous experience with Sprint. I was so pissed off by the time I talked to 10 different people and re-told my story over and over and over again. We finally ended up paying approx. $2000 to exit that contract. I’m scarred. Seriously. It was bad.

please follow me on twitter if you would like to hear about how much clearwire sucks. @dalexander8 I waited 6 weeks for them to “fix the tower” and now they say i am using too much bandwith. But everyone here knows if you have clearwire it is too slow to us “too much bandwith”. You can not stream any type of video, listen to internet music anything a Broadband ISP should allow you to do. But I still am paying $45 a month for close to dial up speeds. Clearwires SUCKS!!
