Clearwire has been robbing me for almost two years – User Submission by Josh K.
April 27th, 2009 | by Tim |i signed up and everything was fine for a few weeks, so when i was offered the voip bundle package, i signed up. the selling point was the $75 web visa certificate i was offered to sign up.
the problems started when i never received the web certificate. the $75 certificate was my deciding factor in signing up for voip, as it would completely offset the startup price and the equipment needed for the service.
the telephone service never worked for more than 10-20 minutes at a time–and when it DID work, it was awful at best.
when i called to tell them about the $75 web certificate never arriving, i was told that the offer was only for new customers and that since i had signed up for internet service a month prior, i was not eligible. i then explained that the representative who sold me on the plan told me different and that i still had the transcript from the online conversation–the promotion was only applicable to web purchases.
after finding this out, i promptly requested a termination in the voip service, as i had been mislead by their rep–though i do not feel that the rep knew she was selling me on a bunk product, based on lies passed down to them from management to be passed on to the end customer. long story short, i was told that i would have to pay $150 or something close to it as a cancellation fee. i then told the rep that i never agreed to a contract on the voip, but only the internet service. she then informed me that when you bundle, the contracts run parallel. i was never told this at the onset.
right around this time, the internet service which HAD been working relatively well up until that point just took this amazing nosedive in quality.
i was signed up for the clearpremium 2Mb service. on a GOOD day, i would get 300k downloads and 100k uploads.
there was nothing i could do about canceling the internet service because i willingly entered into a contract, but after six or seven HEATED conversations with cust service and tech support, i finally got them to agree to cancel my voip service without the cancellation fee. there was just one problem–it took the over six months to process the cancellation and i was being charged access during each of those months.
month after month i was assured that this would be taken care of, but to no avail.
let me now just say something about the staff. the people who work for clearwire are good people. many of them sound like young college student types, trying to make a living at a decent, air-conditioned job to get through school or just to live. they are very kind. the problem is that the information that they are given to pass on to the customer is a load of crap. i feel for them because i became very angry at clearwire to these people on a MANY number of occasions. i would get so angry that i would have to stop and explain to the rep that i was not angry at them, but rather at the BS company that they worked for. i would explain that all of the assurances that they were given to give to us never came through–NEVER.
i don’t think i will ever get my money back that i pumped into their company every month, via my debit card. i never ONCE received service even in the same ballpark of what they advertised–NEVER. not even close. i am not a rich guy, times are tough, and clearwire has been robbing me every month since september of 2007. even as i type, i am being robbed.
so what do we do? is this a class action? does the law firm think that they have a case? ‘cos i want in.
