My horrible experience with Clearwire – User Submission by Shawn
March 13th, 2009 | by Admin |I had the misfortune of having Clearwire for two whole years as my ISP. I never reached the full speeds promised to me. But the worst was that my service was constricted no fewer than twice a month due to what they called “excessive usage.” I’m by no means a hard-core internet junkie. I do normal functions like view videos on sites like You-Tube, read my daily blogs, play a few games online with friends through my X-box. Clearwire defines what I consider typical daily internet usage as excessive. I spent countless hours on the phone with their useless tech support whose answer to EVERYTHING is “reset the modem.” Finally right at the end of my contract I was going round and round with a tech support moron when he let slip the fact that I was considered an “excessive user” and that was the reason for my sub-dial-up speeds. I went ballistic at this point. I demanded to know what was excessive about my use. He couldn’t answer but responded that it was unfair for other subscribers using the same tower as me. I told him that was clearly not *MY* problem, but rather a problem with Clearwire. If they had service issues they needed to either A. Limit the number of subscribers or B. Add more towers. I asked how they could take my money every month and not provide the service they agreed to provide in my contract. Again, no answer. The final solution that night was to let my modem sit off for at least two hours. I went out at got Comcast the very next morning and have zero regrets. I feel Clearwire owes me and probably thousands more like me their money back for not being able to provide the service they claim to be able to provide. They are crooks, taking my money month after month and then turning around and purposely constricting my bandwidth for trying to use the service I was paying for.

Clearwire flat out told us the same thing about excessive use. They even accused us of file uploading…like for limewire or something. We don’t do any of that. I am upset to see that they appear to be automatically renewing contracts as we are hoping to cancel as soon as we arrange service through a new provider.
