User Submission by Christopher C.
February 10th, 2009 | by Admin |I signed up for Clearwire last year and the speed was terrible. My initial fee was $35 per month and the sales person said the price would never go up. Well, after 2 months of slow surfing, I called them to ask if there were any faster speeds available and they said they did. They bumped the charge to $50 per month, with no noticeable increase in speed. I called today to cancel the service and they informed me that I would be subject to an early termination fee of $190. I told them no one told me of any contract at the time I signed up for the service. The told me I agreed to it when I checked the accept box on the T’s & C’ swhen signing in for the first time (although I don’t remember that). Who actually reads any of that?
I told them They needed to inform potential customers about early termination fees before they sign up for the service. My next step is to dispute the charge with the credit card company, but that will probably be fruitless since they have that “checked” box!
I wonder if there are enough ticked off people for a class action suit? Thanks for letting me vent.

Same experience here. I was not aware of any hook when I signed up and am told that I had a two-year agreement in that online service agreement. I have two complains to make.
1. I do not remember seeing the service agreement when signed up one year ago.
2. If there is service agreement, I have never received a printed copy of it. Thus this is up to their saying. They can even say I am stuck for 10-year unless I pay $2,000 cancellation fee.
