I just spent from 5:30 to 7:32 jumping thru hoops with
Clearwire - reboot this, unplug that, plug the modem directly into
the wall, not the surge protector, reconnect the ethernet cable,
etc, etc, etc - go to speedtest.com - tell me (online chat) what
the upload, download, and ping rate is - try the same thing using 3
different servers - at the end she tells me "did you know your plan
is for X number of KB download" - did I know that for an extra $15
I can increase the speed? Look, all I know is the speed was FASTER
before this new modem they sent to me AND couldn't she tell me the
download speed I had on my plan BEFORE all this testing? My plan
didn't change while this testing was taking place. I only have
ClearWire because I got fed-up with Comcast and went to DirecTV - I
see, I never really left Comcast - in fact, my browser window
reads: "Windows Internet Explorer provided by Comcast" - now I know
why. Next stop, DirecTV's customer service . . . arrrgh . .

Comcast owns $700MM in stock, part of the $3B the company raised from Comcast, Google, etc. Not a "small" part of the company. Has any company Craig McCaw has owned ever made money on an operating basis? HE makes money, by selling debt-laden entitites to corporate buyers.

Up until the no-service/ no-signal/ no-response double-talk, runarounds they gave you, I'd put much of that on your not applying common sense expectations.
At Offense #4, I start paying attention. That sounds like the horrors of trying to get away from the AOL idiots several years ago.
It is also reminiscent of dealing with Comcast in just getting set-up properly and at the promised price. I will only as a VERY LAST resort let any company have unauthorized access to my card or acct.whatsoever! FOR THAT VERY REASON! As a norm, people don't know how to do their work. When they do it is an exception and a pleasant surprise.
Sadly, the lack of cooperation and their disgustingly idiotic response is par for the course in anything you can't walk into physically and conduct your business.
Like since before, say, 1972 or so.
The info that is most worthwhile from your exp. is the non-reception of the G.D. signal.
I pretty much want to know that something is going to work well enough in its daily use, that I will hopefully NEVER HAVE TO HAVE ANY COMMUNICATION WITH "cust. service" AT ANY TIME!
Past exp. tells me I am on my own with anything tech.(internet, cell phone, cable, satellite, etc.)
I appreciate knowing that the signal is not good and the service is problematic at best.
The rest is pretty much part of the world we live in. Not that we should just roll over for any of it. We should all really be prepared to live WITHOUT any of this crap at a moment's notice in order to fight back at crap cust. service. But that will never happen. Only competition will EVER make any difference.

Just a note that Comcast does not own Clearwire. They simply have a small investment in them.
