Clearwire is hands down the worst internet provider – User Submission by Derek M.

January 15th, 2009 | by Admin |

So i bought 2 lines about two years ago in 2007. I think since it was new to Hawaii at the time, there was a “pay by month” plan, instead of the contract. It was fine for the first year since i moved out, i didn’t have much other options, and figured it was a lot cheaper than road runner cable we have here in Hawaii.

So during July of last year i decided to totally cancel one of my plans. It was fine because i didn’t have a contract. The second one was renewed. Just today my girl friend attempted to call clear wire to “cancel” it, but as it turns out some how we were shoved into some sort of one year contract we were never told about. When we had renewed this one, we specifically said “month by month” choice. At the time of my renewal as well, i swear we had to get the internet switched i don’t know how many times because the representative kept getting our id’s wrong with the modems.(me and my gf had separate modems previously). So then when we did renew that “monthly” way the guy told us he apologizes for the inconvenience and that he would give me the first month off for free. So i said cool. Later that renewing month income to find i was charged more, like the first month plus an “activation fee”. I’m guessing that fee was because the representative had to “reactivate” my modem because SHE messed up. So basically being the calm person i am, i just let it go.

So basically in the end i paid for their mistakes and now I’m paying for a deactivation that i shouldn’t have had to in the first place. I really hope i don’t end up like some of the posters with a hassle of “deactivating”. Even though i only have 4 or 5 months in the contract, I just want to cancel it now and get it all done and over with.

I really hope clear wire goes bankrupt and stops scamming people. I must agree with the rest that majority of the time i had 2 or 3 bars even though i lived in a town and was told i was in the “hot zone” for connections.
