Former Clearwire Employee - Anonymous User Submission
November 17th, 2008 | by Tim |I have never used Clearwire services, but worked for the company for awhile. I felt so disgusted with the company that I quit. They basically scam you into a contract that you will rarely be able to get out of, with a dazzling beginning price that attracts customers, unbeknownst to some that it is only a promotion and will be around 20 dollars more a month after the first few months of service. If you don’t like the service….. Too bad! The second you enter into the terms of service (Which should be printed out and carefully reviewed before entering into) you are stuck with the fees of an early termination. It doesn’t matter if you are moving to a city where they do not get service, you will have to pay, unless you can find some poor sucker to take the bait and buy it on craigslist, which sometimes is impossible and you are stuck paying even if you attempt to find someone. If you have already signed up for the service, and the equipment gets to your house and it doesn’t even get enough service to work, you have to call and send it back immediately, or they will try to make you pay many fees, for something you could never use in the first place! If you do decide to cancel services, they will email you a return label, you have to print out immediately and send the equipment off the same day. If you do not send the equipment back within 7 days of receiving the return label, you will not get any of the money back that has been taken from you as agreed in the “terms of service”. LOOK IN YOUR JUNK MAIL FOR YOUR RETURN LABEL!! I cannot tell you how many times I had to tell people, who were not told by the person sending you the label, that many of these labels are filtered into their junk mail. They expire 10 days from when it is sent via email, and if you wait to send it after ten days, you will have to call them back and get another one sent to your email account.
I can understand everyone’s frustration with the company, I would blow my top if I was scammed into the crap, and wasn’t able to get out of a contract. If you get anything from this review, I hope you can take into account that many of the people you are speaking to are getting paid to try to help you, (and trust me some of us really try) we are people with feelings that have no control of what happens with your bill. It is automatically taken from your account every month, and we are unable to make it stop, or the automated calls. I heard so many horror stories from customers, either about double billing people and over drafting their bank accounts producing extra fees from the bank… I had many people who were 100% lied to at the time of purchasing the service and were suddenly hit with unwelcomed charges, four calls a day if you are a day late on paying your bill, and people struggling to get out of a contract because they cannot receive service where they are living/ moving. I also had many people cuss and scream at me, even some who had me in tears, only about 6 times, but still! I have also been in tears with some nice customers who had major problems with services and I couldn’t do a thing about it. Surprisingly, I had a total of 5 people tell me that they liked the service, about 5 that’s it!
Please remember that the people you are talking to are not the ones screwing you over, I know you are pissed, I would be too, but please have a little patience with them, if they are crabby to you, then go ahead have a field day with them, but some of them are very kindhearted people who despise their job, but need to make a living, they are humans, just like you. I could name so many other flaws but I don’t have the time, nor do I want to waste another bit of thought on this nightmare of a company. As I conclude, I will leave you all with some big, big, BIG tips about the processes of the company and things you all should know:
-DO NOT LET A TELESALES REP TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED ANOTHER PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, WHEN YOU ALREADY OWN EQUIPMENT FROM THEM THAT ALLOWS YOU ACCCESS TO THE INTERNET
- DO NOT LET ANY CLEARWIRE ASSOCIATE DAZZLE YOU INTO A PROMOTION UNDER FALSO INFORMATION ON FEES, SERVICE, AND QUALITY
-IF YOU CANCEL RETURN EQUIPMENT ASAP AND LOOK IN THE JUNK MAIL FOR THE RETURN LABEL
- READ THE TERMS OF SERVICE I REPEAT READ THE TERMS OF SERVICE!!!
-DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT OR AGREE TO THE TERMS OF SERVICE UNLESS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FULFILL THE ONE OR TWO YEAR CONTRACT COMPLETELY, AND HAVE MONEY EVERY MONTH ON TIME ON THE PAYMENT METHOD ON FILE, WHICH I SUGGEST BE A PRE PAID CREDIT CARD.. NO OVERCHARGE FEES
-DON’T USE THE SERVICE
Good luck with your Clearwire troubles! ~anonymous~
