Clear is a horrible company. They have lied to me about the contract and any fees associated with the service. Do not believe them when they say there is no contract. They slip it in the fine print that you click through online. In addition they seem to have shut down all the US customer service dept which has made it very difficult to actually get someone on the phone without getting completely frustrated with language barriers. They also literally went in my account and took out a whopping cancellation fee that they told me twice they would not do. Thieves! Do not sign up with Clear. Do not trust them. There actual service is also horrible. If you move and the service does not work, they will still charge you.

I am so glad someone is trying to stop the rip off bu clear. Not only do they limit my band with they shut down my access to the internet completely. I haven't noticed that anyone a coment on the fact that the contract they give states if I use to much they will call to notify me that they are going to limit my usage. Nope! Never got a call and they have cost me a large amount of money and my clients by shutting me down Oct. 15th through 17th when I needed to file tax returns electronically. Then they send to to a local office that no longer exists. What a run around. Some one take them down for $70 bucks a month I get unlimited hell not unlimited internet.

I too have been ripped off by Clear Wire or what ever the hell name you want to call them . Great Bs' is what they should be called. Poor service, bad connections, even spending extra money to get their so called
extra" tower" which the modem plugs into which is supposeed to bring in better connection!! If you are lucky enough to get customer service on the phone you spend most of your time asking them to repeat what they said because they are not English speaking and are hard to understand. And got roped into a 2 yr. contract which their customer service guy kept saying 3 year - repeated over & over no- its only a 2 year not 3 years. it has now cost me $115 to get out of it and I have only had it since end of April 29 2011.Poor & slow if you can even get connected!

Ron I would like to talk to you as I was a dealer as well and Clear committed fraud by their frontline employees and tried to cover it up. They violated their own credit policies which is a violation of their own contracts

I am also in Texas (San Antonio), and I got that 6th sense of "sounds to good to be true". My rep got me two hundred dollars off my new laptop to sweeten the deal. Still...off the bat, no service. After 3 days of this, I finally got a cat on the phone that figured they entered my reg ID wrong, he can cut it on from there, but I would still have subscribe! since I've had this damn thing, I've been afraid to sign up for college because I get thrown of the signal so much...I dont wanna be in session where there is a test and I have no clue on the subject. My Ex-wife, who turned me on to Clear, has been gettin' dropouts also. She complained and they gave her some excuse about it being 'CLEARED' up. And I'll close this with this nugget; SHE ALSO HIPPED ME ON TO THIS SITE. not to sure about them automatically withdrawing from my account, either.

I am from Texas, Dallas area to be exact. For the past week I have been getting disconnected approx. every 5-15 mins. Before i was getting disconnected maybe 10 to 20 times a day. Just when I thought the service couldn't get any worse it does.

For the past 2 days I have been unable to access my Clear wireless network with any degree of integrity. I have to stand near a window and pray that my reception is good - most often it is not. What can I do?

I agree, these people are slippery. My modem quit working and it took me 3 days and 3 hrs on the phone to get a new or (refurbished) modem sent out. I went thru 5 or 6 people from foreign speaking people that I could not understand much of what they said. Finally I got to a person that wanted to charge me for a new modem and shipping. I guess my persistence finally paid off and I was sent a different modem and am back up to speed. I would say that this company does not deserve your business and if you have any choice stay away from Clear Wire or Clear.

I wish I was only a consumer of Clearwire and out $200 for the ETF....but I was one of those entrepreneurs who thought the market needed this new service and future technology ....so i laid out big bucks in becoming a dealer which they now have and i got nothing for it.... but thats only the beginning....they supposedly were shipping us equipment on consignment but missed an inventory reporting because their systems were down and/or not working. They said bring in the inventory to the Clear local office for an accounting and return so we could be issued new equipment with updated MAC#s which we did and everything was acoounted. Low and behold in less than a week they deducted almost $5000 from our commission check that month after the inventory was returned and i never got a replacement. So now im trying to chase them down for our $5000. So if thats not enough, they have what is called a 6 month chargeback period that if a customer we signed and activated is no longer on the service within 6 months they charge us back for that commission. I now have ousands of dollars in chargebacks yet we researched many of thos customers and find their service is still on but with different acct #s due to them changing their type of billing or additions or reductions in their accounts. This is a group that has no clue on how to run a corporation nor how to support its dealer network and for that matter how to take care of their consumer. Its no wonder their top management has sold their stock and jumped ship!

Go to your bank and cancel your debit and/or credit card that Clear has on record and simply ask for a new one with a new number that is associated to the acct. that Clear draws your funds. Every bank will do this and there is no charge. Its a convenience banks offer their customers to eliminate fraud and misuse of those cards. If its thru a credit card company (Visa, MC, AMEX,, or Discover) call and cancel and request a new card. Reason you suspect fraudulent activity on your card. You will be telling the truth!!!! This will work. As for them coming after you for the ETFs let them try to sue you, because it was their breach of contract! Good luck!!!

Anyone have experience with the service in Austin, TX? I'm in the middle of subscribing, they tell me the whole city is covered with the WiMax signal, but the gizmo hasn't arrived yet. I may send back the device.

My Company has been without service for so many times I can't even count. In a effort to to save a few bucks my decision to go clear has cost me. Unable to to process Credit cards and receive phone calls it appears we don't pay our bills but but those bills keep coming irregardless of with the service works or not. I will be getting Windstreem back or NTS. I believe the inability to provide dependable service is actionable and if there is a current class action i only want to know were I sign up.

Yes, file complaints online with the BBB in your area and the FCC. I recently filed a complaint with both agencies in an attempt to get the Early Termination Fees waived and cancel continual billings. Weeks after filing with FCC and BBB, I received a response from Clearwire indicating that I had in fact requested cancellation of my service within Clearwire's service trial period. Prior to my complaints, Clearwire indicated that I had not requested cancellation during the trial period and would not waive the fees. Unfortunately, I did not research before deciding to subscribe to their crappy service. I then was lucky to find a class action lawsuit filed against Clearwire and the aforementioned recommendations on how to proceed if you find yourself entangled with them.

This is the worst, I am in King county and it was down his morning from 8:00 when I first tried it until 11:00. I am WFH and these outages and slow speeds are COMPLETLY UNACCEPTABLE, My tyme to download bittorrents is measured in weeks and days not hours! Slow speeds, cancellation fees, & outages, what a great combination. Where/how do I get in on the class action?

The class action lawsuit SHOULD include
a 50% refund of the monthly to subscribers
experiencing network outages and slow
service. This happens quite often in the
Seattle/So. King County area, specially
within 2009. I just did a speedtest:
ping (latency) 2479ms
Upload Speed .11 mbps
Download Speed .11 mbps

Same problem as above. No coverage after moving to a new area. They acknowledged that my area was right outside of their "coverage area" and they would send someone out to drive by and do a reading. Called back no one had ever driven by, and I told them I wanted to cancel. They told me it would cost me $250 to cancel and they would take it out of my checking account immediately. I was in the process of closing my checking account anyway, so at least they were unable to get my money. I have a feeling they will take me to collection over this, but perhaps something will be done legally before I have to deal with a collection agency.

Same problem. I signed my son up for Clearwire. He was living in an apartment for one year. The Clearwire representative I talked to said we could pay month-to-month. Once Clearwire hooked up the modem my son clicked on the website to get on the internet and the Clearwire page popped up. He NEVER chose the option of a 2-year contract. It must have been pre-selected.

Now that he has moved out of town into a dorm which provides internet Clearwire won't let us cancel. They say I "signed" a 2-year contract and still owe another year. I've never even seen a piece of paper or mail and now they tell me they are completely a paperless company.

Comcast is willing to drop my payment by $20 a month to keep us as a customer at my home. Clearwire is willing to do NOTHING! So I am keeping Comcast and taking it up the wazoo from Clearwire. I will never use them again after this or recommend them and will do everything in my power to make sure everyone I know knows about them and I know a LOT of people. Clearwire can kiss my foot and possibly another location!!!!
