October 22nd, 2008 | by Tim |I got Clearwire through Best Buy with a 2 year- no paper contract. I bring it home and plugged it in and I was getting no bars. I called them up and after being on the phone for 2 hours moving from room to room , they ask me if I have double pane windows or tall trees around my house.
I tell them that I do, so they suggest I plug it in outside!!?? The next day they tell me they will send a technician out to my house so I wait for 4 hours and no one shows up.
I call them back up and they tell me that they will find out why and call me back in 10 minutes. I wait for another hour and they don’t call back as they promised. I call them on the third day to cancel and I am told that there is a $180 cancellation fee unless I give it to someone to take over my contract.
After reading all the stories in Clearwire Sucks I cancel my debit card and record a complaint with the Attorney General and better Business Bureau. As of right now Clearwire said that they are going to email me right away the UPS return labels so I can give them back their modem. Not surprised that I will have to call them again and bug them until they do.
I am not giving them another cent and I am definitely not paying for an early cancellation fee.
