How to get out of Early Termination Fees - User Submission
October 18th, 2008 | by Tim |Direct from Clearwire’s own policies.
Violate the AUP by downloading all the movies you can find. They will put your modem in “purgatory” and try to get a hold of you by email or phone.
Since your modem is shut down to a crawl, they get you to call in so they can spew their warnings off to you. = VIOLATION 1
After they turn the modem back up, violate it again, and you will get VIOLATION #2
Repeat warnings etc, and get the modem turned back on, only to repeat the whole thing again and you get VIOLATION #3
Third warning is your final warning before they terminate your account with them. If you are lucky enough to not also have their phone service, then on your fourth violation, this is what the Clearwire policy states…..
Fourth Violation Handling for Account Services
Customer does NOT have IPS: (internet phone service)
*
There should be a CQ Retention Return ticket created at this point by L2 Tech and a return label possibly sent by Retention Returns.
*
The customer may call back to dispute the cancellation.
*
CW is unable to restore service to accounts that have been canceled for violation of the AUP.
*
Retention will do their best to defuse the situation and advise the customer the affects this type of activity has on other users.
*
Retention will code this call RFU.
*
If the customer states they have not received a label to ship the modem back after 24 hours, please request a new return label with an email address other than clearwire.net.
*
If there is not a CQ already submitted, then Account Services will create one under Retention Returns, selecting AUP Violation.
*
The ETF will not apply.
Take note of the last item on this list….THE ETF (EARLY TERMINATION FEE) WILL NOT APPLY.
You are now rid of your Clearwire Service.

Do you have a link to this information on a clearwire official site? This sounds likely, but I would like to see it on their site - also, what happens with that solid gold $150 dollar modem?

Yeah i would like to know more about how this would work too. After 3 phone calls and 2 visits to the clearwire retail stores, i have not been able to convince them to wave the fee, so this seems like a good alternative.
