I went to Clearwire asked if it would work in my area and the sales associate said it will and I can take it home and try it. I signed up for Clearwire, brought everything home, set it up, only got bars in one room (needed internet in 3 rooms) so I went back to their store and told them I wanted to cancel it because it only works on one of my three computers. They tried really hard to keep me even though they knew their was bad reception in the area I lived in. So I was on the phone for an hour with the billing services, in the store, because the sales associates cannot cancel the account. I thought it was canceled and cleared.

My credit card statement comes to my address back home (college student living away from home)and my parents kept paying my credit card bill even though they knew I don't use that credit card. So when I went home yesterday, after 3 months, I looked at my statement that I got in the mail and saw I was billed for Clearwire. So I looked through my last three statements and saw I had been billed every month for the past three months.

Today I called Clearwire and asked them what is going on and the lady said she is looking at my account. She was "looking at my account" for 10 whole minutes before she said she will cancel my account. I asked her was my account not canceled and she ignored what I said and said your charges will be returned in 3 to 5 business days. So I guess I'll be calling back tomorrow to see what they have done to my account.

In conclusion: CLEARWIRE SUCKS!

I have recently canceled my Clear service in Atlanta. I felt comelled to do this after spending countless hours on the ophone with thier tech support performing all numbers of inane tasks with my modem and laptop in order to prove that I really was only getting ~500k and not the 6M I purchased. Once I had proven this multiple timne over the course of 3 months of service, I requested and was not granted a refund for the service which I was billed for but not provided for those 3 months. I was offer a prorated "credit" from Nov 11 - Dec 9, whic his when they say "engineering" will have the tower(600yrds from my house) signal stronger and everything should be fixed. When I asked to cancel, they nonchalantly said ok and made no further offer of a refund or incentive, and now will not refund the purchase price for thier useless equipment.

They might be the worst perforiming ISP I've ever encountered as well as amazingly bad at customer serivce for such and upstart venture(Clear, not Clearwire).

Biggest P.O.S. internet service ever! I too made the mistake of signing into a year service contract in the Portland area. After the first day I called because my service was so slow, I even tested it at speedtest.net where 10 times through 3 local server sites clocked it at 300k below what they said. The modem reads a full 5 bars or connectivity all the time. The problem has never been fixed, I have given up on their "tech. support" and now the Motorola WiMax CPEi 150 modem plays this fun trick of re-booting every 10-30 min which is wonderful if you use your internet for work or school! Thank goodness Verizon has FIOS, best hardware and connection out of the 3 main providers I have tried in the past year.

Hi, after shopping around for internet for quite some time now I was about to settle with ClearWire, until now. I am very grateful that I found this website on google, I am shocked to see all the angry customers on this website, not even one person had anything good to say about this company. I will be staying far far away from Clear Wire and my family has decided to go with Comcast instead.

Thank you guys.

I am getting ready to go to battle against Clearwire. I have paid my bill the last few months only to get double charged and at one point charged three times! I have called and they always try to tell me one is the charge and one is a hold. I cry bull on this. No other company does that. So after about 3 days they return the money sfter submitting a ticket. Well this time Tyler at clearwire decided my credit card information was his and proceeded to try and charge up some diffent things including having pizza delivered in NY and I live in WA state. So the only positive is I have prepaid card for all my online dealings and he was not able to actually charge because the charges were declined. But now I have to go and get another prepaid card. We will see how my conversation goes. Probably not very good based on previous dealings.

I got my roommate into the show Weeds, so for about 2 weeks we were constantly streaming episodes so she could catch up. About 6 days ago, our bandwidth was cut by like 3/4ths. Our speed went from around 120kbps to around 30kbps. SLOWER than DIAL UP. WTF am I suppose to do with 30kbps??? It takes the Yahoo! homepage like 2 minutes to load. This is beside the fact that they advertise being 10x the speed of dial up, which our service wasn't even half of that to begin with...

I too had problems with Clearwire. First rattle out of the box the tech said it had to be in a window sill so that it would have better signal. That's fine...it did give it ONE more bar on the modem. Up and running now time for a bandwidth test...crash. Ping is over 1300ms, download is barely 190k and upload is 56k.

Cable's cheapest package here is like $24, 1mb down and 512k up. When bandwidth was tested on cable it was a little over 1m down and over 700k up.

With cable you pay less than half and get more than advertised. With Clearwire you pay buttloads and get squat. Not to mention when my orders were sent to me for deployment overseas they tried to charge me 200 bucks to cancel. Why would I need Clearwire in Europe and I doubt they have service there.

The only thing that Clearwire has going for it, is that it's wireless. Whoopee....my cell is wireless too, AND I get twice the bandwidth on my tethered cell (4 free) than Criminal Clearwire Crap

I will never ever use Clearwire again and recommned no one use it. I live in an area where there's not many internet choices and Clearwire advertises DSL speeds. I warn EVERYONE...STAY AWAY from Crapwire.

How did you get this info? I was going to file in small claims due to their lack of service. All the supervisors and Rep have been rude and indigent.
I'm not paying 200 on termination fees after paying 50$ a month for shitty service.

Clearwire is defiantly horrible when it comes to customer support. However the result of their service is OK, however I don't know why I am paying a good $45 a month for internet that resides around 100kb/s (kilobytes/s), when I could pay that much to get a good cable package instead.
However for those of you who despise clearwire's cancellation fee, get a bit of this: A California judge ruled that cancellation fees were unconstitutional! That means that if someone was to bring a lawsuit to clearwire around clearwire's own cancellation fee, not only would they most likely win, but they would probably free everyone else from the cancellation fee act as well! Source is here: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/99655

Well then, what is a good ISP, I just dumped quest, as they sucked also, as far as customer svs and billing, plus too expensive for what you get. Comcast is too expensive also. So whats a gal to do?

Want to start a class action lawsuit to get your early termination fees that Clearwire embezzled from you refunded? Click the link below to get started:

https://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/submit_form.html?label=cell_phone_early_termination_fees&forward=445

Did you know that Sprint's customers have filed a $1.2 billion class action lawsuit against Sprint (who will own 51% of the new Clearwire in December)to try to recover the early termination fees Sprint stole from them? Here is the link from the law firm who has filed the suit:

This is good information for the great people who frequent this website and have been ripped off by Clearwire. If any of you are serious about this, these are two good places to start.

I can't stand Clearwire. Terrible "live" speeds with half-ass service. In a random act of rage I googled, "Clearwire Sucks", and this page come up. Lucky for me, it was no coincidence. Clearwire DOES suck!

i dont know if clearwire in usa is the same as the one we have here in ireland but if it is its just as useless here as there.

i signed up in may 2007.the first two months werent taken out of my account and no invoices.i called them and got that fixed.i received 1invoice then for the two months.after that things were ok untill it started not connecting most of the time.i moved address and tried to contact them couldnt get through.
now i never got any invoices by post or email after that first one when i was supposed to.
i then tried to contact them when my contract was up so i could cancel.couldnt get through again.
have been trying for months now to get through all the time im not using my clearwire modem and the payments come out at whatever time they deide in the month i signed up so the could come out at the 23rd but they have come out at all times of the month.and the charge after my contract was up went up to 39.95 euro from 29.95 euro.i didnt agree to this.i didnt want my contract renewed.i have not got one phone call email or letter from them to ask did i want to renew or cancel or informing me tat payments would go up.

it is ridiulous as it comes out at any time during the month sometimes the money isnt in my account or its there but for my bills or loans etc and then clearwire come along and take their money out when they arent supposed to and i miss a payment in my loan or bills.its just not fair
now tonight
i finally got through to them
i spoke to a customer service rep who informed me i will have to call back tomorrow to cancel my account.i told him about the rise in payment ad he said it is in my erms and conditions.which i have checked and its not,it is on the website but not on the terms and conditions that i received.
im supposed to pay 250 euro to cancel which i am not going to pay as they have taken more than that out of my account since my contract should have expired.i didnt want to renew but was given no choice but to keep trying to contact them,as i have tried on numerous time to get through and cancell but i was put on hold for an hour to be put through to a rep.it never happened.the message while you are on hold says you will be waiting no longer than one minute.which is an outright lie.

i hope the people of ireland read this also as i have found this site and that it is helpful for them also as it is clearwire all over the world that is doing this and not just in usa
thank you for listening

I just got a flyer for Clearwire this week and was considering dropping Comcrap for them. WOW! I'm sooo glad I did my homework before making a change. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your informative comments here. I love the power of the web and my heartfelt thanks to all of those who have felt Clearwire's pain and communicated it here. I WILL NOT BE PAYING CLEARWIRE ONE SINGLE CENT!

Thanks again!
